Still, I think this version of the Ravnos is likely to stick and fits the more universal Clan approach that V5 seems to be going with. Even so, I feel like this infringes on my favorite elements of the Malkavians as the Trickster Clan as I was one of the few people who took their position as the pranksters of Kindred society seriously. The Ravnos are also possessed of a much better Clan Flaw this time around: being unable to stay in one place rather than having to commit crimes (that plays into unfortunate stereotypes). The new versions of the Ravnos are a more regionally neutral "Trickster" Clan that exist for the purposes of robbing from the rich and laying low the haughty. I've always felt V:TM should be more international and incorporating the Rakahasa myth felt like it expanded the story significantly.

The Ravnos update is something I'm a little iffier on because I already felt the Clan had already been "fixed" by playing up their Indian subcontinent roots. I've always felt the more overtly "gross" Tzimisce were inferior to the voivodes of old. Their new version is heavily influenced by the Dark Ages interpretation of the Clan and I like that a lot. I like the remake of the Fiends, focusing more on them as vampire-shaped dragons consumed with greed as well as wrath versus sadistic Buffalo Bill-esque psycho killers. I felt the absence of the Sabbat was another flaw of Fifth Edition and it was impossible to adapt them for my games because I didn't have the rules for its two Clans. I always felt this was one of the Fifth Edition's biggest issues as Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition provided rules for all thirteen clans in the main book.Īs a long time fan of the Tzimisce, I was really appreciative of their write-up. Later supplements added write-ups for the Ministry, Banu Haqim, Lasombra, and Hecate. One of the biggest complaints about the initial release of Fifth Edition was the fact that it only provided rules for the original seven Camarilla clans as well as Thin Bloods. The biggest update to the setting is the book finally provides rules for the Tzimisce, Ravnos, and Salubri clans. Certainly, it helps keep the updates flowing into the setting and helps motivate the fan base into continuing to play the game. If so, I think it was very nice of them to release it. I have the suspicion it was what was written up for the Vampire: The Masquerade Players Guide that was going to be released by Modiphius Entertainment but was delayed until the point of cancellation.

Overall it was a nice companion to the game, and also free, so thanks Vamily!. So, I believe that these parts should have been in the main rulebook and the companion should cover other things including the extra clans, with MUCH MORE info about them, and ALL of the current errata in it. Having almost no clue about how Ghouls and Mortals are played in this version was pretty frustrating. I am a LARP VtM player and we used to run a V5 campaign. They had to release a companion to cover essential parts of the game that should have already been in the corebook. The book includes info about three extra clans (Tzimisce, Ravnos, Salubri), Coterie info, Ghouls and Mortals info, some extra ST tips and errata. It's not exactly the size that bothers me (that's what she said.) but the content. The book itself, as a companion, is great! It has STUNNING art, it is well organized and written and all that. It took me some time to read it, because I hate ebooks, but I finally did.
